Programs
Developmental Preschool
This program is designed for students ages 3-5 who qualify for special education services in a variety of developmental areas. State-certified early childhood special education teachers, classroom assistants, and speech and motor therapists provide a classroom program focusing on specific skills learned through play to provide support to the student’s individual needs. Preschool students attend either an AM or PM session for 2 ½ hours. The district is authorized to provide transportation to eligible children in special education early childhood programs.
Integrated Preschool
Early Learning provides an integrated program for students with special needs and community students in the same classroom. This integrated approach guides children through the typical stages of development while taking into account the specific needs of each child. As a quality early learning/special education program, we focus on developing kindergarten readiness skills while addressing the special education needs of children with identified delays. Together, children with all abilities benefit from participating in inclusive environments. Preschool students attend either an AM or PM session for 2 ½ hours.
ECEAP Preschool
The Early Childhood Education and Assistance Program (ECEAP), is a state-funded program that is offered full day to students 4 days/week and taught by state-certified early childhood teachers. ECEAP focuses on the well-being of the whole child by providing comprehensive nutrition, health, education and family support services to YSD’s most at-risk students. Children are eligible for this program based on their age and family income. Transportation is not offered for this program.
Community Preschool
Community preschool is offered to 4-year-old students to work on developing school readiness skills taught by a state certified teacher. Students attend either an AM or PM session for 2 ½ hours for 4 days/week. Transportation is not provided for this program.
